Maldon District Council is offering free parking in all public town centre car parks, every Thursday from 2pm throughout December, and all day on Christmas Eve.

Councillor Penny Channer, Leader of Maldon District Council, said: "It's great to be able to support the Maldon High Street this year.

"We recognise that it continues to be a challenging time for all businesses in the District.

"Free parking in the run up to Christmas will enable residents and visitors to the town to shop local and shop safely.

"I encourage everyone to 'keep it local' this year."

Free parking will be available from 2pm on December 1, 8, 15 and 22, as well as all day on Christmas Eve.

The Council hopes the public will take advantage of the free parking on offer in the afternoons and evenings in the run up to the festive season.

It has urged people to help support local businesses, particularly those in Maldon's 'fantastic' High Street.
