The grandmother of Liam Taylor has thanked Heybridge Residents Association (HRA) for raising £416 to provide lifesaving bleed control cabinets throughout the Maldon District and Essex.

Julie Taylor runs the café at St Peter's Hospital in Maldon and created the Liam Taylor Legacy in her grandson's memory. Since Liam was stabbed to death outside a Writtle pub in January 2020, Julie has worked to ensure more lives can be saved.

Julie told Nub News: "The Liam Taylor Legacy would like to say a huge thank you to the HRA for their kind time and effort doing a fundraising event for us and raising £416.

"We are very grateful for your support."

The HRA hosted a fish and chip supper at the Prince of Wales pub in Great Totham last month. A raffle was also held, with prizes donated by residents. Most of the proceeds raised went to the Liam Taylor Legacy.

Ashley Jones, Chairman of the Residents Association, says fundraising for good local causes is part of what the organisation stands for.

He said: "The people of the HRA are unpaid residents, who put a lot of time and effort into doing as much as possible to help the public in Heybridge."

But Ashley added that the HRA's work is not just limited to fundraising.

He explained: "We try to be a voice for residents with matters involving the council, local bin collections, and more. We want to focus on helping residents, rather than focusing on things we don't have control over, such as housing."

However, Ashley has urged more Heybridge residents to step forward and join the Association. For more information, get in touch with the HRA via email or call 07842 880 443.

Emergency bleed control cabinets can be found in Maldon, Chelmsford, Witham, Romford, Braintree, and more towns. There are 11 kits in Maldon alone.
