The next event for the Maritime Group is a visit to Sutton Hoo on Monday 5th August to see the Burial Ground and artefacts and then on to Woodbridge to see the Viking Longship replica of the original which was discovered at Sutton Hoo. We will leave from West Maldon Community Centre at 8:00, please park your cars at the far end of the car park. Traffic permitting, we should arrive at Sutton Hoo by about 10:00. A guided tour of the Burial Ground will start at 11:00 . We plan to leave Sutton Hoo by 1:00pm to arrive at Woodbridge by 1:15pm. There will be a guided tour and a talk about the construction of the Viking Longship. Lunch, which is not included, can be taken at Woodbridge. We will depart from Woodbridge at about 4:00/4:30pm .
