UNTIL Sunday 11th September

Councillor Robert Boyce OBE, Chairman of Maldon District Council, will be making the Royal Proclamation to announce the new King at 2pm on Sunday.

The sad death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September has brought the dawn of a new era, as King Charles III takes to the throne.

As this significant change begins to take effect, there will be a number of important events across the country. These include the public proclamation, marking the new King, which will be read at civic sites across the country.

The High Sherriff of Essex will read the proclamation on the steps of County Hall at 1pm on Sunday 11 September, after which the Royal Proclamation will be made at the Maldon District Council offices.

Councillor Robert Boyce OBE, Chairman of Maldon District Council, will therefore be making the Royal Proclamation to announce the new King at 2pm on Sunday.

A spokesperson for Maldon District Council said: "This is an historic moment and I'm sure that many people will be keen to be there."

The reading of the Royal Proclamation will take place on the steps of the Council Offices and is likely to take approximately 10 minutes.

Guests are invited to hear the reading of the proclamation by gathering outside the Council Offices shortly before 2pm. Please note that there will not be parking available at Princes Road site as the event will be taking place across the car park. Visitors are requested to park in one of the Town Centre car parks.
